Motorcycle rentals have been on the rise in recent years, as more and more people are looking for new and exciting ways to experience the open road.
Whether you’re a seasoned rider looking for a new adventure, or a first-time rider looking to try something new, motorcycle rentals can offer a unique and thrilling experience.
There’s a lot to know about renting a motorcycle, and it can feel daunting at first. But don’t worry, this article will explain everything you need to know and give you some tips on finding the right bike for you.
Expectations
When renting a motorcycle, it’s important to have realistic expectations about the experience. Riding a motorcycle is much different than driving a car, and it requires a certain level of skill and knowledge. As a renter, you should be aware of the basic mechanics of the motorcycle and how to operate it safely.
It is also important to be aware of the local traffic laws and regulations, as they may differ from those of your own state.
Remember that weather conditions can also greatly affect the ride, so be prepared for possible changes in the forecast. Rain, wind, and cold temperatures can make for a less enjoyable experience, so it’s important to have the proper gear, such as a waterproof jacket, gloves, and boots when necessary.
Experience
Riding a motorcycle can be an incredibly exhilarating experience, as the open road and natural scenery can be enjoyed in a whole new way.
The feeling of the wind in your hair and the sound of the engine can be addictive, and many people find themselves wanting to ride again and again. However, it’s important to remember that riding a motorcycle also requires a certain level of skill and knowledge, and should not be taken lightly.
For first-time renters, it’s important to start with a motorcycle that is appropriate for your skill level. Sportbikes, for example, are designed for experienced riders who are comfortable with high speeds and aggressive riding.
On the other hand, cruisers or touring bikes may be more suitable for beginners, as they are designed for a more relaxed riding experience.
Riding a motorcycle also requires a certain level of fitness and stamina, as the rider is responsible for maintaining balance and control of the motorcycle at all times. It’s important to be aware of your physical limitations and to take breaks as needed.
It’s important to also be hyper-aware of the environment when riding a motorcycle. You should be aware of road conditions, traffic, and other potential hazards.
Endless Possibilities
One of the biggest benefits of motorcycle rentals is the ability to try out different models and styles of motorcycles.
This can be especially beneficial for those who are considering purchasing a motorcycle but are unsure of which one to buy. It can be a great way to have a ‘try before you buy’ experience.
Renting a motorcycle can also be a great way to take a motorcycle trip without the commitment and costs of owning one.
Process
The process of renting a motorcycle typically involves filling out a rental agreement and providing a valid driver’s license and credit card.
The renter may also be required to provide proof of insurance or purchase insurance from the rental company. Once the paperwork is completed, the renter will be given a brief tutorial on the motorcycle’s operation and safety features before hitting the road.
Some options have made it very easy to get started when it comes to motorcycle rentals, but they all have their differences. It’s important you know which one is best for you.
1. Riders-Share Platform
Riders Share is a motorcycle rental platform that allows individuals to rent motorcycles directly from private owners.
This is a unique concept as it provides a way for motorcycle owners to earn money by renting out their bikes when they are not using them. It also provides an alternative to traditional motorcycle rental companies by offering a wider variety of bikes and rental options.
The process of renting a motorcycle on Riders Share is similar to that of traditional rental companies, but with a few key differences.
First, renters can browse a wide variety of motorcycles from private owners, rather than just the inventory of a single dealership or rental company. Riders Share also provides a rating system for both renters and owners. Renters and owners can both view the ratings and reviews of each other, and the motorcycles before making a rental decision.
This can provide a level of trust and accountability for both parties.
Riders Share also offers insurance coverage for both the renter and the motorcycle owner, which can provide added peace of mind for both parties. Renters can choose from several insurance options, including liability coverage and collision coverage. From my experience as an owner, Riders Share insurance is by far the best in the industry. Riders-Share provides top-notch customer service through genuine interest in the customer’s well-being.

2. Twisted Road Platform
Twisted Road is another motorcycle rental platform that allows individuals to rent motorcycles directly from private owners.
Like Riders Share, it provides a way for motorcycle owners to earn money by renting out their bikes when they are not using them and offers a wider variety of bikes and rental options.
One of the key features of Twisted Road is its user-friendly platform, which makes it easy for renters to find and book the perfect motorcycle for their needs.
Renters can browse a wide variety of motorcycles from private owners, filter by make and model, location, rental dates, and price, and then make a rental request. Renters can also view pictures and details about the motorcycles, including the model, year, and mileage, and read reviews from past renters.
Insurance coverage is also provided for both the renter and the motorcycle owner, as well as all motorcycles listed on the platform are required to pass a safety inspection before they can be rented out.
Additionally, the platform also offers 24/7 customer support to assist with any issues that may arise during the rental process.
The feature that really sets Twisted Road apart is its Ride Credit program, where renters can earn credit towards future rentals by referring their friends or by renting out their own motorcycle through the platform. This can make it even more affordable for renters to experience the thrill of riding a motorcycle.
3. Eagle Rider Motorcycle Rentals
Eagle Rider Motorcycle Rentals is a well-established company that specializes in motorcycle rentals and tours. They have locations all over the United States and in several other countries, making it easy for customers to rent a motorcycle and explore new places.
Eagle Rider offers a wide variety of motorcycles for rent, including Harley-Davidson, Indian, BMW, Triumph, and more.
They have a fleet of both new and pre-owned motorcycles that are well-maintained and ready for the road. Customers can choose from a wide range of models, from cruisers and touring bikes to sports bikes and dirt bikes.
Eagle Rider offers various rental options to suit different needs, such as daily, weekly, and long-term rentals. They also offer guided and self-guided tours, which can be a great way to see new places and have a fully planned itinerary.
The company also provides a variety of services for its customers, such as 24/7 roadside assistance, helmets, other gear rentals, and insurance options.
One of the biggest perks of Eagle Rider is the knowledgeable staff that can help customers plan their trips, recommend routes, and provide information about local laws and regulations.
Eagle Rider also offers a unique program called “Fly and Ride” where customers can fly to one of Eagle Rider’s locations and rent a motorcycle from there. This program makes it easy for customers to plan a motorcycle trip without having to worry about transporting their own bike.
EagleShare Platform
Relatively speaking, EagleShare is the new kid on the block. The peer-to-peer motorcycle rental service to take on the likes of Riders-Share and Twisted Road from parent company Eagle Rider.
While EagleShare is backed by a parent company, whereas Riders Share and Twisted Road are more so independent, there have been many reported struggles on the platform. As a renter, you must be preapproved by their insurance program as part of your sign-up process. EagleShare’s insurance provider is currently declining about half of the applicants, so this can make it quite difficult for motorcycle rentals through the EagleShare platform.
I will be investigating this platform further and will update this post as necessary.
Conclusion
As you can see, although renting a motorcycle seems complicated on the surface, it isn’t nearly as complicated as it seems.
Now you know what to expect when it comes to renting a motorcycle, and you have all of the knowledge you need to get started with your next trip!
Thinking of renting a motorcycle, or perhaps, renting your motorcycle on Riders-Share?
